Bible Verse for the Year: Get Involved

Bible Verse for the Year

We want to select a verse of Gods Word that can encourage us all and bring hope for the coming year.  Everyone in our church fellowship is invited to offer suggestions that they feel they would like to see as our Bible Verse for the Year

Bible Verse 2023 - Philippians 1:21

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

Matthew 5:8

Bible Verse 2022

This year, Sabden Baptist Church celebrates 225 years of service to Jesus Christ and we are delighted to be able to bring past and present together through one of our churches previous deacons, George Foster.  More about his involvement in the early years of the church can be read here.  It is on George Fosters gravestone where the wonderful scripture verse that has been chosen for this year's Bible Verse for the Year is found.  "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God".  (Matthew 5v8).  This by no means suggests that George Foster, or anyone else, was claiming to have a pure heart on their own merit, but they declared it through the merit of Christ.  It is through Christ's pure heart and his scars  bore for us that we see God.  Our hearts are made pure through Christ, the cornerstone and solid rock of the church.  (Ephesians 2 v19)

We give thanks to the faithful who came before us and may the Church continue it's journey with Christ at it's heart!  AMEN

This is what the Lord says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
   ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
