This morning, we explored the heart of Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5: 21-37), where He takes familiar commandments and deepens their meaning, challenging us to examine not just our actions but the attitudes and intentions within our hearts. Jesus’ words, “You have heard that it was said… but I tell you,” invite us to move beyond a surface-level obedience to the law and instead embrace a transformed inner life that reflects God’s character. In the areas explored (Anger, Lust, Divorce and Integrity), Jesus calls us to a deeper righteousness, one that flows from a heart transformed by His grace. The challenge is not merely to avoid outward sin but to cultivate a spirit of forgiveness, purity, faithfulness, and truthfulness in every aspect of our lives.
